Mezcal Mitres founder

Claudio Román Pastor, born in Mexico City in 1991, is currently the founding partner and CEO of the Mexican mezcal brand, Mitre, established in 2015. He is also a Partner and Member of the Certification Technical Committee of the Association of Artisanal Maguey and Mezcal.

While still a student of Business Administration at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, Claudio Román began working on the idea of Mezcal Mitre after a trip to the state of Oaxaca, which served as the main inspiration for the project.

With the clear objective of creating a product that represents the contemporary and elegant aspects of Mexico, along with the artisanal and traditional, Mezcal Mitre was born. Claudio Román aimed to offer consumers a distilled spirit of excellent quality backed by constant, innovative, and artistic work.

In the municipality of Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, the production area was established, hand in hand with Claudio and the family of Don Tacho, a living legend in the world of mezcal.

Working with Don Tacho and his sons, Joel and Laurentino, ensures meticulous attention to the production process, from agave cultivation to bottling Mitre, all carried out by the same expert hands that have been crafting artisanal and high-quality products for three generations.

On a business level, Claudio Román has overcome the challenge of growing at rates above 100% year over year, while maintaining consistent product quality and constantly innovating to remain in an artistic and distinctive concept. This commitment to quality and innovation has solidified Mezcal Mitre as a loyal, authentic, and passionate company, positioning it as the second largest independent artisanal mezcal brand in Mexico.
