¿Cómo nació Mezcal Mitre?

HOW MEZCAL MITRE WAS BORN?

Hello Mezcalero!

This time, I want to share the story of how I embarked on the mezcal adventure, as it's one of the questions I get asked the most.

It all began in 2013 when I was on an exchange program at a university in Spain. Being there, I firsthand witnessed the limited cultural and historical perception my peers had about our country. The Mexico I live in daily doesn't align with the cliché and picturesque image often marketed abroad.

Months after returning from the exchange, fueled by my passion for the gourmet experiences Mexico offers, I set out to create a concept that reflected our amazing pre-Hispanic culture, fused with the contemporary and elegant aspects of our country.

And how did I get into mezcal?

In 2014, I traveled alone to Oaxaca for a couple of weeks to see if I could bring my vision to life with this exceptional distilled spirit. The moment I arrived, I fell in love with the city and its rich cultural tapestry, from gastronomy to the arts. It was a revelation to explore this state for the first time.

Once I explored the city, I decided to venture into the mezcal-producing region, where I had the great opportunity to meet Joel Santiago Hernández, a person I'm fortunate to call my friend and partner. He shares the same vision of being ambassadors of mezcal worldwide.

And that's how Mezcal Mitre was born, a symbol that represents Mexico in an imposing way. The jaguar, symbolizing a mineral as precious as obsidian, is a combination that embodies our magical bottle.

This combination is backed by a great product, not just a recipe, but skilled hands steeped in tradition and history, like those of Joel and Laurentino, sons of Don Tacho, a living legend in the mezcal industry.

I hope you enjoyed my story, and I leave you with a piece of advice: if you have a project you want to pursue, dare to start. There's no formula or plan; everything gradually unfolds as you go along. The important thing is to take the first step."
